Nah, I think it looks pretty good. Star Trek was one of the best blockbusters of recent years and this looks to continue that. JJ knows his onions.

Funnily enough I wish they'd do it on TV where the constraints would produce more of a classic star trek feel

it looks fine, but it's becoming yet another comic book franchise.
It used to be a thing of ideas rather than some OTT nemesis being chased around by wise-cracking people with laser guns (I generalise for affect, you understand).

I thought it got the feel of the old movies rather nicely

With a couple of exceptions the movies were always a bit naff. Charmingly so, but never great cinema. The Trek TV shows are what makes the Trek legend.

Yes, I liked it too. What I didn't like is the fact that the cast consists of good looking 16 year olds.

Pff, they're 30 if they're a day!
