I heard Bayern München want this Bale guy.
The all-in-one consolidatory football thread Page 440
Everyone in Europe wants him, but the rumour is he wants to stay in England. Starting bids of £50m have already been mentioned, so Spurs have almost no chance in keeping him. Shame, but he does deserve to be in a regular CL side. Even if Spurs qualify I somehow doubt he'll stay there, he's very hot property now.
Waheeeeey!!!! FC Basel - Tottenham.
Christ! Chelsea have got to schlepp all the way to Russia.
As long as teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid are in the running I can't see him going to an English club, Daniel Levi will be putting ridiculous prices on him as it is (latest rumour is 70 million!!) but there is no way, having sold their best player, will Levy want him playing against them every year.
True, he probably doesn't, but he'll have no real choice in that, if bids are close. If he gets offered roughly same price from MC or MU and wants to stay in England then Bale has last word. Don't think anyone can force a player to join a club he doesn't want to play for.
But yes, what often happens here is a player who really wants to play in CL ends up going abroad because his favoured English club can't or won't match a crazy bid from Real Madrid. But I think MU realise his potential for them in Europe and they did make a fortune on Ronaldo. If they really want him they can outbid anyone. Couple of CL finals will recoup them their money paid, and they'll still own a pricey palyer.
Bale will be in CL next season, even if it's with just with Spurs but I doubt it will be now. He rips apart good European sides everytime he plays against them, the bloke is gold dust.
I'd love to see Bale join United, but can't see it happening. Also can't see them getting Ronaldo back either. They just aren't going to outlay that sort of money.
Bale has said he fancies Spain, but he is in no particular hurry. He seems to have bonded with AVB and so long as Spurs get champions league I am optimistic of keeping him at least another season.
In any case there is no way Levy will let him go for anything other than silly money, too rich for United I would have thought, and it will have been salutory for Bale watching Danny boy stick to his guns while Modric agitated so hard for a move only to then crash and burn at Real.

Ahh
I do actually quite like Spurs.
My loyalties are divided on this one sorry Gordon
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ March 15 2013, 10:45 AM GMTJust shows how important Bale is to them. Infact it confirms the importance of having great wingers.
Bale does not really play as a winger these days; what screwed us was AVB's team selection and tactics. Playing a high defensive line with a 75 year old centre half and an 80 year old goalie was never going to be a sound strategy; he then compounded the problem by sacrificing the midfield so that he could field not one but both of the leagues laziest strikers. On top of which he went with a complete lack of width and no playmaker in central midfield. Then he seemingly gave the whole lot of them instructions to wind down the clock for the entire f**king 90 minutes.

No problem. We'll see who kicks whose arse. (Sadly, I think it's the end of the road for my FCB...but, you'll never know)

Your non-participation in the BCG Fantasy Football League is one of life's great shames.

That's why he could be on the way to Old Trafford. They still need a great midfielder. Sneijder would have been a good fit, but he's seemingly interested in nothing but money.

I think Roman will sort things out - if you know what I mean.
Quote: Gordon Bennett @ March 15 2013, 8:16 AM GMTI so hope FC Basel has to play against Tottenham or Chelsea in the next EL round. This would be the icing on the cake this season.
I think Basel is tied up in Torquay.

You mean nice seats on the plane ?

Why single him out ?
They're all the same 'I want to play Champions League football.'
Bollocks.
'I want the money that comes with being with a club that plays Champions League football.'
