Comedy Union Reps

These were a staple of 70s comedies in particular. Usually skivers, over paid and of course above their station.

Miriam Karlin in the Rag Trade was a noticeable example and Arthur English in Are You Being Served who would flash his wad at the snooty shop assistants.

But I'm trying to recall which sit-com featured a shop steward from Lockjaw- Lift Operators, Caretakers, Janitors and allied workers?

That sounds quite possibly one from Are You Being Served? to me.

It was around the time of Are You Being Served at its peak. I recall the actor had a slight comedy stutter like Jack Douglas.

They probably had an obstinate caretaker that sounds promising.

My other two suspects are the Squirrels and the Cuckoo Waltz.

I watched an entire episode on YouTube in an attempt to find out. Just so you don't have to, the busybody janitor in 'All Through the Night' doesn't mention his union affiliations. The bastard.

Was it Mind Your Language?

That was my first thought too.
