Perhaps if they did stuff in packages such as Indiana Jones and a bag of popcorn or a Romcom and a box of Roses or Debbie does Dorset and a gram of coke?

But with books and DVDs and cds you aren't getting any more information about them in store by holding them than you would by looking at them online.
How about how heavy they are? Really though, have you never thumbed through a book and read the opening pages?
I'm not even sure why having a CD/DVD retail store is preferable at all, unless it's an intimate record shop where people hang out and drink coffee and are all young and care free n shit.

I can guess how heavy a book is by the number of pages, and with amazon you can usually read the first few pages. You can also read reviews and have it delivered to your door.
But can the internet provide the ice cold thrill of putting a CD in your bag without paying then walking toward the alarm in the hope of getting past the guard?
I did this on the cross channel ferry I stole the box set of Colditz just to get me in the mood for a good caper. I was expecting the guard to shout Hande Hoch but I got back to blighty safely.
This internet thing sounds horrible, it will never catch on.

Exactly My Point! Online you can't physically look at the product and pick it up. Plus , you have to wait a few days.

I have to make a list of bands I'm interested in before looking through CDs there because my mind goes a total blank. An age thing you know.
I can walk into HMV not wanting anything much and find random things, if I go onto Amazon I will look for a particular thing, it's not the same at all, it's easier if I have no time to go into town or they are out of stock to get it posted, bt what about music I have never heard of that I have suddenly found in HMV? There is no replacing that.
