:D

I think if you look back to the recent discussions in America about what women should and shouldn't be allowed to do with their own bodies you'll see that we're not quite there yet in Western society!
And of course women in dozens of countries still have no rights whatsoever.

Luckily for me I'm in a country where women are generally pretty equal, but a lot of the world is pathetically far behind.

I'd agree with you on that, zooo. But too often on the BCG feminism seems to be represented by a discussion on somebody being beastly about a female celebrity.

'Pretty equal' unless you expect to get paid the same as a man for the same job.

Stop being beastly then. ;)

zooo's gone all Famous Five.

Chip said it first! He's the BCG's Julian. Or Dick.

I think for a lot of low paid and lower end jobs pay is roughly equal between the sexes. As you move up the ladder to executives then I suspect their is a discrency. Although you'll forgive me if I don't lose too much sleep over the bank balances of executives and company directors.

It's a bit of a cliche to say this, but imagine if it was black people getting paid less for the same job than white people. Would people be fine with that? Doubt it.

But for the average person in the street I don't think there is much of a discrepency. And it's those poor pitiful bastards I care about most.

Pffff.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal for there to be any discrepancy between pay-grades.
Or am I wrong?

You may be right. Although low paid workers have very few employee rights so they get pretty much get shafted left, right and centre. Which too me is a bigger problem than some arbitray battle of the sexes thing that some people witter about.
