British Comedy Guide

Top 10 British sitcoms ever Page 17

Being a Yank, I have not seen all of the comedies listed.
Some have seen but didn't like.
Here is my list:
1. Blackadder (agree not Series 1)
2. Red Dwarf (starting when Kryten is introduced)
3. Father Ted
4. The League Of Gentlemen
5. The Thin Blue Line
6. Yes Minister/Yes, Prime Minister
7. Coupling
8. The Vicar Of Dibley
9. Jeeves And Wooster
10. One Foot In The Grave

Honorable Mention:
Only Fools And Horses
Waiting For God
Absolutely Fabulous

This is becoming a TTPYO !

Can someone please explain to me the problem with Blackadder S1?

Angry

Maybe people prefer a sneery superior Edmund to a snivelling loser Edmund?

Maybe.

But that's a bit like saying that one only wants Tony as a winner.

The first season of Blackadder just isn't as funny, clever and entertaining as the other seasons which by the way set the bar really high.

May I add that I thought Blackadder Back & Fourth wasn't as good as the second, third and fourth series either.

I maybe alone on that though.

Probably:
1) OFAH
2) Fawlty Towers
3) Mrs. Brown's Boys
4) Citizen Khan
5) The Royle Family
6) Max And Paddy
7) Phoenix Nights
8) Extras
9) LOTSW
10) Gavin & Stacey

But there are loads so it's difficult to do a top 10.

Personally, I would go with

1) Blackadder
2) Only Fools and Horses
3) Fawlty Towers
4) The Royle Family
5) Dad's Army
6) Porridge
7) Open All Hours
8) The Office
9) Phoenix Nights
10) One Foot In The Grave
