Sooty, I've been working on it since Autumn, and now a big Indie is taking an option, so it seems sensible to consider the money aspect now, don't you think?
Money and sitcoms Page 4
I would indeed well done
Maybe. Though it's if a channel becomes interested that the money issue will probably be most pressing. It's only then that you'll probably see any real money.

But there's considering and considering. Most sitcoms are accepted by the reputations of the writer, do they meet the current trends, is it not too way out, is it not too rude for where the TV company want to put it.
Six months seems quite a short time to me-well done!!!!- but get an agent, contact Writers Guild. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but it's vital to get the right deal.
Thanks Tim, it's not the first sitcom I've written, but the third. The other two got favourable responses, but no more than that.

Er, sitcom scripts then. Still if you got a response, that's good.
Yes, I know! Early days yet, though...

What are they paying for an option? If they have a contract then future levels of payments would be built into that option. Have you read it thoroughly>?
Their lawyer's working on it at the moment, Marc - I haven't received it yet.
Fair play, good to do some research yourself then before it arrives. Chat with an agent they will most likely advise even if they don't sign you up.
Exactly! And thanks everyone for being so helpful and friendly.

Are indies obliged to pay BBC, ITV, Sky rates?

I've found them to be pretty much on a par when it comes to rates if it goes into production.
It's at the front end they can be a bit tight - often because it's out of their own pocket and, as such, a bit of a punt.

I wish someone would take a punt on me. I've got some crazy off the wall shizzle to show the world and that aint no shit!
I've emailed an agent who's been recommended by a writer friend.
