I nearly went in today, tempted by the up to 70% off posters, but I went in The Works and then forgot.

The Works is a great shop. There's a lot of tat but there's also enough good gems to make it worth it.

I really must go in and buy a load of crap DVDs. I haven't bought a DVD in a shop for fecking years.

It's all my fault. :(

Yeah! Occasionally they have the odd good book. Is fun to hunt through. Plus they always have dinosaur toys that I want but never get.

That was my intention today and I totally blew it Unimpressed

You can't beat a good browse and buy.

You really must go in. I know its a shiddy thing but there are Mega bargains to be had.

They're only shutting sixty odd stores

This is actually a bit of a lie. My local branch closed a number of weeks ago, but has never been named on any of the publicised lists and counts of closures. I wonder how many others across the country have gone silently?

My closest remaining branch, that I've recently bought at least a good half dozen or so Blu-rays from, was named in today's list of closures. I can only guess the rent must have been high, as it's always been packed with long queues when I've gone in there. Very disappointed. I think the nearest branch to me now will be central London somewhere.

I hate HMV. Good riddance.

As I said elsewhere been plundering various stores - Sutton, Oxford - and getting lots of stuff at 25% off.

I nearly bought a KD Lang CD, but didn't and then nearly bought a disco compilation CD but didn't buy that either...damned indecision.

Never heard of that Damned CD - but loads of their stuff is there. Fantastic band. Originally punks they became Goth and created some great stuff like The Black Album and of course Damned, Damned, Damned which everyone should have.

...as well as Wreckless Eric....

...and of course Otway!!!

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more stores shut but I suspect (hope) it will survive, albeit in a drastically smaller form. Unfortunately the golden age of more obscure TV shows and films being released on disc is probably over. Increasingly it'll just be mainstream films and TV released in physical form.

Gosh! I hate The Damned but if my Dad had a BCG account , he would talk all day to you about The Damned. They are his favourite band . He's very sad at the moment actually because with HMV closing , he won't be able to buy them from there anymore. :|

Popped into HMV yesterday. Staff looked sad and the shelves were pretty bare. Shame.

:(
