Do you GROW? Page 44

Sort of depends how big it is.
If it's bloody enormous you might be better off pruning it quite hard now-ish then waiting till Autumn.

If it's just ordinary size, tidy it up a bit first, but don't hard prune it.
Dig a big enough hole around it and try yo get as much root and soil up as possible - bearing in mind it's the hairy fibrous roots that will be doing most of the work.

Have your new hole pre-dug (not where you've had a rose before) and water it in well.
There is a powder you can get which REALLY help establish new plantings http://www.unwins.co.uk/rootgrow-mycorrhizal-fungi-360g-pid3720.html
(not the only brand - Google for others)
If your plant is precious, it's well worth the few quid.

Good luck

Thank you. It's not very big. It needs to be moved asap and is very precious so will get some root powder.

You look deep into her eyes and... oh, you meant something else.

Hmm, well that's useful advice too Lee considering my real name Laughing out loud I will get OH to test it on me. ;)

Just spent too much on plants.
:( :)

This last year I have grown

into a cynic

Gave my dad a grow your own bonsai tree kit for Christmas

4mm growth in two months

Is it worth getting a few seedlings on the window sill?
Too early for Tomatoes?
Maybe some Basil then just to get into preparation for the big push

It's about now I start to sow pots of salad mix as a cut and come again crop in the greenhouse.
About 2nd week in March you can start to cut a few baby leaves.
'Saladisi' is a good mix.

I never trust whether weeds have popped up in the salad leaves.
they always look a bit random.
Or maybe I leave them too long without checking.

I like growing little lettucces (Letteci?) though

I'd grow them all year 'round. I know they flourish in the summer, but little salad leaves are so easy to grow.

Too early for Tomatoes?

Judging by last year's summer, the correct time to sow them is 2011.

Serious answer:Yes, too early, otherwise they just grow weakly and never do very well.

If the weather report is to be trusted, might actually venture into the garden this W/E.
Expensive plants need planting.
