I've just seen... Page 343

Piranha is on TV this week. I am sadly quite excited.

Shark Night. Jaws meets torture porn.

I liked its sheer shittyness. Fun.

I recently saw The ABCs of Death. 26 short films by 26 different Directors, all focusing on death with a single letter of the alphabet. Funny, thought provoking, disgusting, perverted and boring, it's certainly an experience.

I also watched The House At The End Of The Street, which was ok, and made me jump a few times.

When's it on, zooo? Because it does contain a beautifully choreographed underwater dance sequence with Kelly Brooke that I'd like to study again.

Set your perv alarm for Sunday at 10! (Channel 5).

One of the rare occasions where 3D technology in cinema made sense.

Persepolis last night. Wasn't looking forward to a lo-fi mainly black and white cartoon about a girl growing up in Iran, but it was great. Funny and moving. Although Iran looks a right hellhole.

There seems to be a strange, universal law that the most fought over pieces of land are also the shittiest.

You mean Elephant and Castle shopping centre is a holy land?

Watched Never Let Me Go last night along with Take Shelter (a grim double-bill if ever there was one).

Agree with you that the way the characters in NLMG accepted their fate was frustrating, but the more I think on it the more I think that frustration is what makes the film so poignant. I really wanted them to take that car and get the hell out of town, but I would have found that ending even more unsatisfying.

I did find a bit of the symbolism somewhat heavy-handed however - a group of people in an inescapable situation taking a day-trip to visit a beached boat? I was surprised they didn't fail to fly a kite while they were at it.

Thing with NMLG is watch the film get frustrated with their passivity

Then get up the next day to go to the job you hate.

Then question everything.

I think the surgery scenes were needlessly graphic.

I don't hate my job, and even if I did I think there's a big difference between the 9-5 grind and sleepwalking into a fatal organ extraction.

Unstoppable. Great little runaway train film marred only by its lying title.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration. Cheerfully grim and relentless. And set in Chenobyl. Which is good.

It is? Ah, but shot in Bulgaria, so I won't bother watching it.

Yes, how dare they not shoot a frivolous action film in such a tragic place!

We can't all be chief masturbator at London zoo

And some of us would view fatal organ extraction as a reasonable way of getting some extra annual leave
