Derek - Series 1 Page 6

" I've since looked it up and discovered I was correct all along. Guess that makes me the petard (bomb). "

I think it's spelt 'pedant'
:)

Nicely played, ma'am.

Thank you, My Lord,

Maybe if I was a bit more of one I'd know how to do the quotey thingy properly.

:(

This is not a good show. Karl is the best thing in it and he's playing himself. Derek is the worst character and it really is just Ricky with his hair slicked down, taking the piss.

Surely he has the golden key to get anything commissioned. Why the f**k is he bothering with this?

I'm annoyed I wasted 30 minutes watching this when I could have spent 30 minutes wanking instead.

David Brent was perfect. He ended it after two series because he didn't want it to outrun its course. He really should have considered the same for his lead acting career too.

A better man could have done both.

Oh believe me, I gave it a good try!

Maybe he'll even have managed to redeem Kev by the end.

I think he's going to try. He's got a tough job on his hands.

29 mins looking for the right porn, 1 minute wanking.

:) Ah, now it makes sense.

At first I thought it was a top tip to aid men in delaying the, ahem, inevitable: have the sound of Ricky Gervais' voice in your ears. A tip that would work for all men. Except, of course, for Ricky Gervais!

I'm not sure about this. I think he really does want to write a heart-warming series, with a sweet-natured, lovable lead character. It's an admirable goal, and I find him entirely sincere when he talks about it (eg, today's Observer).

But he's f**ked it up, and it was an awful 30 minutes of TV.

I remember this character from yeeeears ago. It was his stock "mental" character, the voice, the gurn. He probably does "care" for him but this really started off as an excuse to do it on TV and was squeezed into justification by making it bitter-sweet. It's just a shame it's not so sweet.

I'm sure he said in an interview about basing him around some of the obsessive autograph hunters who used to pester him.

When I heard the end credits music I thought for a second that they had used this piano piece that was composed for a short film made by students at my old college - South Cheshire College - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV5jW_ZSy_E

He has described Derek as "Christ-like" in an interview, which is as good an indication as any so far that he's completely lost his mind.
