Things that piss you off Page 1,184

Opera singers or classical violinists that sing/play pop or rock songs (Smoke On The Water etc.) in TV shows just to show they're alright and cool. Criiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiingeworthy!

Do you object to classical artists performing pop and rock music per se or because you think they are trying to show they're alright and cool on TV?

That. And when that is the only motivation the result is almost always rubbish and embarrassing.

Ah, I see. I thought you meant them doing at all was annoying you.

By picking "obvious choices" as Highway To Hell, Bridge Over Troubled Water or Light My Fire they show me that they haven't put much thought into it (they don't really care) and that they're only kissing ass. That annoys me.

I don't like opera singers singing pop/rock/jazz songs because they almost always sound terrible. Certain singing styles suit certain music styles. I don't especially want to hear a rock singer attempt Vissi d'arte either, though.

An Italian speaking English has a certain charm; an italian opera singer singing "Every Breath you Take" is just plain wrong.

I don't like opera full stop. I want to scream 'Get on with the f**king story!' Likewise with ballet.

At least you know where you are with Andy Stewart !

TTPYO: Taking someone to a comedy gig and raving about how clever and insightful a comedian is only for the comedian to be so drunk that they repeat disappointing clichéd material several times in the space of a 20 minute set. It's just awkward at the end when you have to say "He's usually really good - I'll send you a YouTube clip!"

I think you'll find 99% of all stories in opera's are complete bollocks. I believe this to be the accepted technical term for them.

Wow yeah your right

I just Googled it

"bollocks"

Who'd have thunk it??
