The article was so controversial that it's been removed, and the editor has posted an apology.

There's a piece in The Indie about it.
Sounds hilarious.
EDIT: actually read it all the way through now - and the editorial makes some very good & pertinent points.
The original article was basically Julie Burchill trolling her readership. "Suzanne Moore wasn't offensive: this is what an offensive article looks like. Like most socialists, originally I bonded with her over Bollinger....and now transexuals have joined the ranks of the evil middle classes. P.S. stop bullying us real women you minstrels"
It's the equivalent of the Mail posting this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2095549/Right-wingers-intelligent-left-wingers-says-controversial-study--conservative-politics-lead-people-racist.html
except that oddly, Mail articles trolling their readership resemble journalism.
Fortunately, due to the Telegraph's brave anticensorship stance (which apparently doesn't apply to their comment thread...) anyone can read Julie's article in it's entirety here http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/tobyyoung/100198116/here-is-julie-burchills-censored-observer-article/#disqus_thread
Can't help thinking that a millionaire as desperate to remain working class as her would understand gender dysphoria and the resulting chips on shoulders.

And Daily Mail readers are quite difficult to troll (unlike Guardian readers who are quite thick, at least when it comes to pushing their buttons)
Children getting shot in the head for wanting to go to school, women getting raped to death on buses...but enough of those trivial things, let's get back to the main issue in 'Liberal Britain', people using certain words must be stopped from using them.
The Guardian should change the heading to 'Comment is free....but speech isn't'.

In fairness, the censored article was complaining about how very dare people saying nasty things on the internet... *they forced her friend off Twitter* [/sad violin music] by complaining about inappropriate comments the friend made in an article which complains about allegedly inappropriate comments politicians make.
It's censorship all the way down.
As for Mail readers, even their skin is thick
It's all too funny.
Someone should really write a comedy about it.
Oh....
The Mail is tremendous at making money and getting hits online (to make money).
You're not meant to actually believe what's written in it.
The tone of the Julie Birchill vs. The Trans debate is getting quite shrill.
Nice to know we at the BCG were way ahead of the curve on this one.
No doubt this seemingly trendy competition (enough to annoy Daily Mail anyway) will have the same old same old in the winner's piece...
I read Julie Burchill's piece and she is very much a sort of left wing Littlejohn. I mean that as a compliment. She's taking a very out of left field approach to the debate. Pointing how the eternally atomising nature of individualism is actually supressing us as a society. Yes she's smug, rude and mocking. But by gosh she's got a heck of a point. Silencing feminist voices because of one none intentionally offensive aside is insane. Some times you need to be tolerant, even to insults.
