Mrs. Brown's Boys - Series 3 Page 2
Quote: Wwe222 333 @ December 17 2012, 9:34 PM GMTI'm gonna start a thread for series 3. So post your ideas and stuff in here for series 3 of this wonderful comedy. Is there a trailer?
They could try being funny.
Or perhaps having the potential to be funny.
Or arrange for it to contain traces of things that might be funny, even if they aren't.
Or failing that, they could try a tired script, shocking performances, slipshod direction, an audience hyped up on mescaline and viewers who are in denial about Harold Wilson not being Prime Minister.
Now we know it, if the guests of a pub suffer from food poisoning they all scream and faint as if they had a heart attack...all about the same time.
Series 3 Overall I feel is not been as good as Series 1 & 2 but certainly is watchable. Series 3 Ep 2 has to be the best so far!

I take that Back! Mammy's Valentine was hilarious , I was in stitches from start to end!
I'm a huge fan of this show. Been along to a few recording for all three series, it's always a great afternoon/night out.
Episode 5 had some key moments of comedy but nothing to go mad about I am happy and not happy at the same time that they might be doing a series 4 because yes I agree it's popular but I feel a fourth series might just kill it. But a movie would be good

Only if it's in 3D.
Thanks for the article; I wonder who'd buy a MBB novel?

Someone who likes MBB?
The success of the show isn't that inexplicable or mysterious. It's easy, broad and dumb. The right thing in such grim times (financial crisis, EURO etc.) Same happens in music business all the time. Many of those 12 million viewers are not really interested in comedy; it's not a passion for them. But when such easy to digest shite comes along they will watch it.
My best friend calls these people "sleepers" or "sleeper cells" when we're talking about this phenomenon in music. You don't see these people in records stores all year, they don't talk about music...you don't see them (like sleepers). But when Celine Dion releases an album or such hip crap like Gangnam Style is on, they come creeping out of their holes and make this stuff number one.

Yeah, but I can't imagine the average MBB fan reading a 200 pages thick book. As I wrote above, I don't think they are that much into comedy (most of them).
I get the impression the tone of the books is rather different than the simple crowd-pleasing stuff that's apparently worked on stage.
Whilst I'm still not convinced it'll be for me it gets some pretty positive reviews from some people who sound like they have actually read other books. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/984859.The_Mammy
Maybe I'm wrong but I think that one of the show's appeals is the fact that the female lead character is played by a male (what I call the "tranny-factor"). So the book can only be fully appreaciated by the fans by imagining the TV show's look and O'Carroll's way of speaking. So the book must always be closely linked to the TV appearance.
Then it's hard to recreate the slapstick appeal of the show.

Ever read any Tom Sharpe or Roddy Doyle?
