Miranda - Series 3 Page 24

Homer Simpson.

What did everyone think of yesterday's episode?

Personally, I didn't like it for whatever reason and that's a strange thing considering it's one of my favourite shows and I've enjoyed every episode of it.

I don't know if it wasn't all that good or if it was good, but not good enough to live up to my standards.

Anyway, I'm really interested in reading your thoughts on it.

I think normally a Miranda episode is, among other things, about running around, fast changing locations and falling over. This episode was comparatively static. With the running around they can usually hide the lack of story or original ideas (although I must admit that the show has always some good ideas) but this time it was obvious that nothing is really happening.

Not so good - and I'm a fan.
A certain amount of vanity from the writers, perhaps - thinking the series has enough weight behind it to justified a 'locked-room' episode.
I just thought it made something that errs towards the 'stagey' fell very stagey indeed.

I did notice that it all took place in one room, but I didn't think it suffered.

They have done it before, in the psychiatrist's office - one of my favourite episodes.

Even my good lady, who is a fan, thought last night's wasn't all that, turning to me halfway through the show and saying "it's a bit lame isn't it?". There are always three or four good lines/observations in each show, but more and more it's becoming far too 'girly' oriented. Maybe that's the audience she is going for - the comments on Twitter praising it are I would estimate 90% from women viewers.

Very poor episode I thought, the whole scenario felt contrived, lazy, and lacked any logic.

Not the funniest episode to date, but I enjoyed it. Nice to see a sitcom stuck in a single location. I always think it engenders a nice, cosy feel. Having said that, I can certainly see how the episode will have disappointed others. Something a little different, certainly.

It was ok, not one of the best episode IMO. Some funny bits in there too.

I like Miranada Hart, I think she's a funny lady, but being big and single and falling over all the time can only go so far. It is starting to get tedious and predictable now. Sorry.

She's not single now!

Well, nevertheless she dresses up puppets as the Spice Girls and sings with them. Sounds like a lonely schizophrenic person. ;)

This is a clear point that I hadn't noticed before.

In previous weeks, the positive feedback came back from both genders, now it's just teenage girls mostly raving about how good it was.

Maybe that's the audience she's targeting for?

I dunno, but I honestly didn't enjoy this episode and in my opinion she set the bar pretty high for this series with the first episode which I thought was really good, but I do understand how some people think it's too over the top or all over the place to enjoy.

Teenage girls do seem to love her. But I think she reaches quite a few demographics. More than most comedies reach.

Yeah a poor ep by the show's usual high standards.

Nothing clever or witty about it.

Found a lot of it quite naff.
