I doubt he does, Matthew just added some context to your statement.

I'm sure it was a spoof of cooking shows. Doesn't make it any less jarring to the usual Miranda style.
And the saying grace scene was reminiscent of Meet The Parents (love that film!)...I thought it was an excellent episode. Seemed like Miranda was 'explaining/defending' her character in the final scene, i.e. the childlike behaviour...perhaps shes been reading this thread and is pissed off with the psychoanalysis??? Hiya Miranda

Childlike behaviour? Like a mentally ill child.
Still too jolly hockey sticks and posh girls school dormitory humour for my liking. Maybe one or two funnies per episode but otherwise getting a little bit too excruciating and predictable
The Series 3 DVD comes out in October 2013.

If you got rid of all the sitcoms with central characters that display mental health problems you wouldn't be left with many sitcoms.

What did you say?!
All great sitcoms have a resident f**kwit
Baldrick
Father Dougal
Woody from Cheers
Manuel the waiter
Trigger from OFAH
Alice from Dibley
Kat from Red Dwarf
Rose from Golden Girls
Pike from Dad's Army
Etc etc

In all your examples the cretin is not exactly the main/chief character...apart from Rose maybe who is 1/4 of an ensemble. In most sitcoms there is a main character who compensates for the lunacy of the others (Jerry > Kramer, Ted > Dougal)...but in Miranda the half wit is the titular character.

Frank Spencer 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'.
Gordon Brittas 'The Brittas Empire'
There's a couple!
I don't agree with Brittas but let's take Mr. Bean and we're ok.

Well Miranda owes a lot to the above show, a clear influence on her or the writers. Just waiting for her to put on roller skates and grab onto the back of a bus. She's probably hoping Boris will hurry up with the new Routemaster.
