They were great!
Miranda - Series 3 Page 20
Are failed writer/comediennes "Also 'randas"?
A musical equivalent to the breaking of the fourth on TV is the self-referentiality in hip hop, like when hip hoppers tell us how big their dicks are, how many biatches they shagged or how bad white people are (who ironically buy their albums in bulks). Of course this self referentiality thing is older than hip hop...like the breaking of the 4th wall.
Since the diversions are bound to be greyed out I'd just like to say rappers and lovers of rap are poop.

Yep.
To return to Miranda: isn't it unusual to kick off a new series with Christmas specials?

Not unheard of by any means, but not wholly regular, no. However, that wasn't a Christmas special, it merely had a vague Christmas theme. See our guide and note how it isn't highlighted as a special.
Goodnight Sweetheart once kicked off a series with a Christmas Special, as did Ballykissangel in its 3rd series.
Quote: David Carmon @ January 3 2013, 1:34 PM GMTI don't give a shit if it's realistic, clever, innovative, original, or not.
It makes me laugh, that is all I require a comedy to do, not try to f**k with my brain with clever jokes or try to be witty. Simple is the key.
That's what is wrong with Miranda, and today's comedies in general. Comedy, at least, has to be genuinely funny, clever, innovative, and original. (Original in the sense that the jokes are new, not necessarily the situation.)
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ January 4 2013, 11:50 AM GMTThis latest series is awful beyond words. Bang bang bang bang bang. That's the sound of Miaranda falling over, viewers being mugged, old sitcom scripts being broken into and ancient worn out gags being hammered to death.
The more popular it gets the more I hate it because it is so blaringly unoriginal. If copyright included styles and ideas then the BBC would be bankrupt by airing one episode of Miranda. That's mainly what annoys me so much about it. It's gliding along on a huge wave of success thinking it did it all itself when the truth is it's simply become a big jolly for a gang of mercenary hacks to cash in in the most shameless way writers can. Its relentless success and praise disgusts me.
Other than that it's very funny.
It doesn't help that there are hardly any decent comedies on. Some people will watch anything, even if it is rubbish.
I hope that last sentence was sarcasm.

For you. I don't give a toss if comedy is innovative, or even clever.

...as long as it is easy and doesn't take to much thinking. I was watching Russell Howard yesterday: The louder you shout your childish knob gags the funnier they seem to be to some groups of people. Same with Mrs. Brown. Do it loud, obvious and fastpaced and the audience will love it.
Fart joke.
Very funny again. A lot of goofy fun.
Yup
Another cracking episode
A couple of naff bits here and there - but mostly very good
The scene in the doctors surgery was great
To the person who said it's "unoriginal"
Yep it is - and thank FK for that
Most new comedy is bollocks
Anything that harks back to the golden age of comedy I.e. 70s and 80s is fine with me
Be good to see Joe Wilkinson in a costume drama.
The dinner scene wasn't that what it could have been. It could have been a nice and believable near catastrophe...but it was the typicical surreal overstuffed Miranda-behaving-like-mental travesty. It's a lot harder to commiserate if it's that goofy and silly. It's a pity cause otherwise I did enjoy this episode.
