The interweb is full of strange postings Michelle. Will you be entering the competition yourself?

Snigger snigger, Marc said "entering" snigger snigger.

And posting!

When ever I encounter a transgendered person I have a big think about it.

It's my trans-incidental meditation.

Hey Marc whats your transvestite secrtet identity.

Anne posting!

Wasn't there a scandal at the last election, when Nick Clegg was first past the post.

Main thing is to concentrate on the story Michelle and let the message be not front of stage if I were you.

Yeah, being funny is my main aim, just not letting the fact that one of my characters is trans be the butt of the jokes.

Make it a funny story rather than a series of jokes too, have the comedy come from the characters and the narrative.

Good point, will do, but I am no pro, this is more for the fun of inventing and playing than anything else :)

Just wanted to say, my outbursts on here were not some kind of trolling fun for me or an intellectual excersize. I was deeply upset about the fact that a group of people I sort of respected (comedy writers) could think so low of me.

As is the case with many things in life please don't think this forum is representative of all comedy writers. There are some of us, of which I am one, who admire a person stepping in to challenge people on their views and opinions.

I'm wary of getting involved in this debate due to a lack of knowledge and that some on here are self-confessed wind-up merchants. But just wanted to say at least one person appreciated your posts.

Ironically, that would be a form of prejudice.

We need to start with the premise that this thread is about members of the transgender "community" writing comedy. Whether this is useful, or if they have a particular voice, than say the gay "community", for example, is a different matter.

It's not really the premise of the thread though is it? And certainly not of the competition.

Nicely put. There are a lot of people on this thread who should feel ashamed, apologise and move on. BCG should be better than this.

Again, what I said above. As long as we aren't being offensive to an actual person, or using highly offensive terms, which we weren't, it should be all right.

Spot on. Comedy and comedians should not be offensive. The fact that some blokes like to wear dresses, or even get their nuts cut off and their dicks spliced and sewn inward, should never be joked about. Some subjects should be off-limits. Like cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). I have plenty of transgender Muslim friends and we are all getting fed up with these bloody BBC competitions denigrating them on public forums. You guys mocking transsexuals don't know the agony of trying to find dresses that fit, of shopping for size 13 high heels, of giving better blowjobs than women, etc.

Quite. Can we grow the f**k up and move on please.
