Thanks everyone. That was helpful. A couple of quick questions though:
1. What about white pudding? Does Lee imply Scots might use it as a coaster?
8. Why do they call it a brigade? Does it have something to do with SS brigades?

1. No, suggesting he might be used as a coaster, and as a white pudding are separate I think.
8. Not really, it just paints a vaguely militaristic image.

He's just trying to conjure up a surreal image. There's a picture of white pudding below which shows how it could be coaster-like:

This should answer most of the questions about anti islamic comedy.
My favourite bit of Carpet Remnant World, is the line about Max Hardcore reverse cowgirling Osama Bin Laden.
Just finished watching it, that was amazing One of the best standups I've seen ever, definitely the best recently.
I loved Carpet Remnant World, Lee is a man who is comfortable in his own skin but still pushing at boundaries. Some really funny stuff in this. Loved the blog stuff, very funny.
Good article.

I got Carpet Remnant World for Christmas, I think that might be my favourite Stewart Lee show yet! The end of the first half was brilliant.
I would recommend it as a starting point for anyone who hasn't seen him before, but I don't think Stew would want me to.

Yes, went to see Stew do this show live in Wolverhampton in May, just got the DVD myself. Haven't watched it yet as I am caring for a very elderly person.

I saw Carpet Rem at Edinburgh the summer before last but will get the DVD as it will be interesting to see how it has evolved. I'll bet it's quite a different.
I watched this last night and thought it was a worthy addition to Lee's canon. I did the running time a bit long - 90 minutes would have felt fresher.
I loved this show, his slowly melting act has now been perfected, as has his comedy personna. It was interesting he was offered a deal with Sky and decided to stick with the BBC. Considering the BBC only wanted him back after Sky made their offer he could have taken the money and ran; Although the BEEBs deal was generous for them. Where he goes from here is another matter, he seems, with this show, to have reached the end of that phase. He has said he wants to do more observational stuff about fatherhood etc. Will that work? If anyone can do it in a new and fresh way it will be Lee.
