Sorry, are you talking about the cloth ones from The Tenth Planet? There are rumours of it coming out in DVD, in 2013, with missing episode 4 being in animation. Luckily I have episode 1 - 3 on VHS!!!
First DW Crimble Spesh that I've enjoyed for many a year. New assistant is much less irritating and much nicer on the eye then the Pond. Lots of good little moments, some cracking jokes and good performances.
And now for the criticisms -
Constant mention of Sherlock Holmes - yeah, we get it, you write that show as well - Ha, ha, ha.
Sherlock Holmes is a lesbian alien with a wife - yeah, f**k off.
Richard E. Grant has like six lines - what a waste of a great actor.
And worst of all, redundant and reptitious writing - hero falls from great height, hero dies, people stand around grave, hero not really dead - last episode of Sherlock, last episode with the Ponds and now in the Christmas special - that's the same three frikkin' plot endings in a frikkin' row, you unimaginative lazy Mo(ffet)-fos.
Fair comment but REG gets to do some quality evil scowling that pretty much makes up for the lack of lines.

To be fair, Moffat didn't actually write that episode of Sherlock. (It was also built into the story that Sherlock would fall and 'die', rather than something he thought up!)

oh now that is a waste, but I think that was all he was prepared to do.
The whole thing felt like it was picking up ideas from Pertwee era Who but in a good respectful way. Proper odd none soap opera assistant, extras viciously butchered for no good reason, funny comedy aliens, the Dr not crying when someone pulls a gun. Oh yes and extras viciously butchered take that you mockney, extra, wankers.

Lots of great little bits but the wishing it all better ending because some nanny / barmaid had a bit of a boo-hoo was total wank bollox.

At least it was set up though, the mirroring thing; so it wasn't quite wishing, as such. But yes, not great.

That was so good.
First episode I've seen for a while. It was okay, which at once makes it a contender for best Christmas special. RC has already mentioned one of the fundamental flaws of Moff's Who, though. If you keep killing people and they come back to life there is no sense of jeopardy. I am also sick to death of the childish "Dr Who?" question which got several outings again.
On the plus side the new companion seems to fit in well and there is enough intrigue to get me watching the next episode.
