Merlin... Page 2

So the thread started in anticipation; what does anyone think now that it's well-established?

I'm really liking this third series - been some corkers.

It is fun.

I don't really get why Morgana is suddenly evil though. I don't think they've explained it properly. She's perfectly nice, she disappears for a year, then suddenly she's an evil bitch? And she's not even enchanted or anything?

Don't get it.

It's her wicked blonde sister messing with her mind! And Uther is her father! :)

You must have missed an episode in the previous series.

It has been explained to me now. :)
I wasn't remembering the old series very well.

It's been good, especially the opening 2 parter.

The will be no more merlin after this series

I started watching this laughing at it and hating it for being so shit, and then got hooked. So now I'm annoyed that after repeating basically the same story for 2 series rather than taking the obvious big step in terms of plot, (ie. not have Merlin's magic be secret) they say "it's run its course". At least there won't be another series of Morgana surviving countless rockslides/blows to the head/poisonings/stabbings/roof collapses etc. etc.

I need to get out more.

Get out.

*hangs head in shame* I'm sorry. I don't know how it happened!

I love Merlin!

BBC are pooheads for cancelling it. I bet they'll put yet another boring gritty northern drama on in its place. Great.

I always like the first 10 minutes or so the best, when it's all beautiful locations and mystery. I start to lose interest as it becomes clear that the same sort of things are going to happen as always, then I usually give up before the end. It's all got a bit too straightforward, just good versus evil, whereas in the beginning, Arthur was a bullying dickhead and Uther was completely ambiguous, and often downright nasty; it was much more fun. The loss of Uther was felt far beyond the realms of Camelot, verily unto the very sofas of TV land. I agree with Harridan, we needed another big step, although perhaps the writers feared the acceptance of Merlin's magic would cost them one of the few interesting remaining elements.

I was alwyas hoping he'd have to reveal himself to save the kingdom and then find himself a fugitive for a while. The whole show has felt like a leading up to the revelation when they can start having some real fun, but obviously that's not how the creators envisioned it.

Exactly; they had a much duller vision in mind. Whistling nnocently
