If I remember correctly they were made of bread and soaked up the gravy, yum, sounds good :)

They also thought all green vegetables like cabbage etc were poisonous and had to be boiled and boiled to remove the toxins

My Mother still believes that!

If your addicted to things like drugs or whatever you will become a ghost when you die

Your soul will retain these addictions and needs and your spirit body will stay grounded here and will attempt to posses the physical bodies of other addicts so you can experience the drug fuelled highs or whatever that they have

Everytime I see a film about WW2 in the UK. Everyone's always drinking loads of tea.

Surely tea would have been a luxury good that was difficult to import?

Maybe there was some kind of mega cheap, rubbish wartime version of tea?

At the time we owned India, gained independence in 1947, very handy for tea.
