I'm sure your supporters love the fact that you always make a profit - but win no trophies.

I'm a QPR fan (with some Exeter on the side), so am neutral in this, but I couldn't disagree more.

Arsenal are competing with teams willing to go massively into debt, or worse-still have vain oil tycoons with no regard for the bottom-line. If something doesn't work, they just spand another few hundred million. Ironically, often taking players from Arsenal.

The fact that Wenger has 14 censecutive CL group stage progressions is a huge achievement for someone who isn't bankrolled with dirty oil money, and has run a steady financial ship while other have gone all-out to bankrupt themselves to compete with the oil clubs.

"Winning a trophy" is bollocks. If Man City/Chelsea don't win the title, they should hang their head in shame, so that just leaves the lottery of a domestic cup.

Ask Birmingham fans how their "trophy" worked out for them.

As AW himself says, incoming players don't ask "Did you win the Coca Cola Cup last season?", they ask "Are you in the Champion's League this coming season?".

Pound-for-pound, best manager of the Premier League era. I hope the debt and oil-money abandon catches up to the Citys, Chelseas and Uniteds, and Arsenal can reap the rewards of their modest long-termism, and desire to show a hint of financial class.

Even as an Arsenal fan, I'd have to disagree with you there. Definitely second to Ferguson.

Or 'how much are you offering per week?' perhaps ?

There's only so far you can stretch the Champions League argument. Regardless of what you think of the League Cup it's still a trophy. When I've looked club's honours sections on Wikipedia they never say anything about consecutive years CL qualification (though I bet they will in the next 10 minutes).

You can't show your children your 4th place medal. It isn't that impressive to say as a fan, 'Son, I was there when we secured third place away at the Villa'.

On the flip side there's a lot to be said for the opportunity to be thumped at the Nou Camp but on balance I'd rather have a trophy.

Well, all financial factors being equal, I'd say a CL place would be a better tie-breaker than a CC Cup the previous season.

This doesn't apply in the slightest to the Europa League though, which is the worst effort:reward/glory ratio in football. It's like the Coca Cola cup, but you have to go to the Ukraine, rather than Torquay.

Hilarious. Check out the vid, halfway down the page. He's gotta be taking the p**s, surely?

'Allo 'Allo

Oddly, this does actually happen.
I spent along time in France and the combination of picking up the rhythm of their speech (both when speaking in their own language and when they speak English to you) and spending a lot of time (trying) to speak French with a decent accent, you end up talking in English with a French accent/rhythm when communicating with johhny-foreigner.
I had the piss ripped out of me something rotten over it - but you can't help yourself.

i was looking for this.

I don't think he's that intelligent.

Now look Barton. The reason people concentrate on the negative things is because you're a vicious psychopath who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football stadium.

Great results today. I really have lost interest in Chelsea. I just HOPE Reading keep up today's list of upsets. Come on you Royals!!!

Well, they've just scored but I doubt it'll end that way. 1-0 to Reading.

See, make that 1-1

Man Utd penalty... 1-2

2-2

3-2 to Reading. Great game. :D

3-3

3-4 to Man Utd after 34mins, surely it can't continue...?

Should be 3-5 after the ball quite clearly crossed the line.

Oh what a shame!

:D

Shit!

Jammy bastards!!!

Again they'll probably win the league because everyone else shoots themselves in the foot!

At last after many years in the wilderness, AFC Wimbledon play MK Dons tomorrow, don't even ask how a northerner comes to support AFC it's a long and protracted story. :$

I think 90% of the country wants WIMBLEDON to win. And then those absconders should change their name!

Yea its been eating away at me for all these years, bloody Milton Keynes, I will never go there out of principle. I have an uneasy feeling its going to be a draw Angry
