I've just seen... Page 320

The latest Twilight. Surprisingly I don't think there was one 15 year old girl in the audience.

Well that's disappointing.

Yea. The lack of teenage girls squealing everytime Edward or Jacob appeared on screen really effected my enjoyment of the film. :P

The other day I saw an amusing collection of all the Robert Pattinson interviews where he talks about how much he dislikes Twilight:

Can't blame him. I think most people have had jobs they don't like at some point- even well paid ones.

About two years ago I read in the gossip news about a guy called "Robsten", and I thought: "Who's that Robsten fella, never heard of him". About two or three days later I realized that "Robsten" are in fact two persons. That story does make me feel very old.

I detest these abbreviated names for couples. As if people cease to exist as individuals once they start going out with someone.

It's like a brand name. And these couples only work as this strange new creature. No sod is interested in the acting skills of Jolie and Pitt. But everyones wants to know if "Brangelina" adopts a new child or something.

everything is a commodity now, from Becks and skeletal wife to weddings, Christenings, children, people have no sense of privacy, I just couldn't live with that kind of life, everything is for sale, an empty sad life, to need public affirmation that much that you are willing to sell any part of you.

But Jolie couldn't live without it it seems. She has technically an intact acting career, but she's more interested in that celebrity-thing. I mean, most of the "I'm a celebrity get me..." are potless has-beens who need the money. She'd be one of the few who's rich and famous but would voluntarily go in the jungle eating kangaroo testicles. She'd turn down challenging acting jobs and prefers to get filmed by paparazzi doing "private" things. Strange world.

I imagine some element of being a successful actress requires you to maintain a high profile so that you continue to be bankable. Just being talented isn't really enough, I would imagine.

Celebrity is like a drug, it becomes all enveloping, their self worth becomes entangled in adoration from people they don't really care for or have any time for. Like minor deities they must be worshipped in Hello or Ok. Vacuous morons all.

I don't think yo can paint them all with the same brush. Some celebrities sell every aspect of their lives to magazines while others find themselves intruded upon because they do a job in the public eye.

That could be a reason for the behaviour of George Clooney and my own Roger Federer. Both are top in their profession and make trillions and zillions with it and yet they make ads for coffee and other uncool thing. Either they are celebrity addicts or they try to keep their market value high.

It's more the culture I dislike. Be famous for doing something well, not just for showing half a tit in Hello or having your wedding photographed in OK. Speaking as someone who would hate fame, being one of lifes backroom boys, Warhole had it wrong, 'Everyone who wants to will have fifteen minutes of fame'. I simply can't get interested in the life of Kerry Catatonic no matter how hard its been or how nice she is. Privacy seems to be a lost art, it must be an empty love, the love of those who only know you through fame, to crave that kind of affirmation is a mystery to me. But then I am a throwback to an age that is long gone ;)
