I like Bowie's version of "Where Have All The Good times Gone" much better than the Kinks' original.

Bitches Ain't Shit by Ben Folds.
Genuinely excellent cover of a crappy Dr Dre song.

Hip Hop is always crappy!
Well, 99% of it is, yes!
C'mon, 65% I'd say.
What is Hippitty Hoppitty?

I'll give you... 85%.
Hip Hop is mostly cheap cheat. They use a cool sample from an old song and rap about the same boring hip hop stereotypes again and again. The kids love the songs because of the sample. At least here in the german speaking world, these ten year olds don't understand the lyrics. They like the "cool" and sexy videos and they hum the melodic samples.
The 1990s stuff was fun.
Without rock music there wouldn't be any hip hop...they need rock music to steal the sample and melodies to build their "songs" around...and than they rap bout bangin' da bitch.that's it. And as Zoo said, there is maybe 1 percent with substance.
Wait, are we talking about a specific type of hip hop or the genre as a whole? Of course rap music samples beats, that's the whole point. How is a poor kid in 70s Brooklyn supposed to get hold of sophisticated recording equipment and instruments? They're going to remix tapes and scratch records to create a new sound.
Music should constantly evolve, classics can still exist along side it.

Absolutely agree...but I'd like to be a grumpy old man (35 *cough, cough*) who thinks: "Where Have All The Good Times Gone?" (Kinks). I don't want to make my peace with modern music...although I like Drum n Bass

Ooh I like a nice hat
This is from a soloalbum. My favourite Richards solo song is maybe "Wicked As It Seems" from the second album.
