The Growing Pains of PC Penrose Page 2

Nope, can't say I have. If you live nearby of course, you're in a far better position to judge than I. Might even be possible to contact the council and ask if they know of any filming which went on.

:)

Good idea. Do you know what Roy Clarke looks like? I'm quite sure that in the stripping scene (it goes over two scenes, I think it's the second) Clarke is in the crowd. I'm not 100% though. If anyone has the DVD and knows what Clarke looks like then please would you have a look for me?

I do know what he looks like, and do have the DVD - just not with me at present. Will check it ASAP! :)

Thankyou. Just finished watching the series. It's pretty good, but not a classic. Did you enjoy it Aaron?

It's alright. Glad I got the DVD cheap, but I've seen far worse.

Three episodes- Episode 1 (Lovely Eye Lashes He's Got), Episode 2 (The Peeper) and Episode 6 (Quiet Midweek) were really good episodes. The remaining four episodes were really average. It should have been better. Clarke's main talent is dialogue and he focussed too much on dialogue on not enough on the plots. He had some great plot ideas, but didn't make the most of these ideas because he concentrated too much on dialogue.

Have you by any chance checked yet Aaron whether that Roy Clarke is in the crowd of that stripping scene.

I only seem to ever remember when I'm in the middle of something else, but will check it in a minute! :)

Right, no, didn't see him that I recognised, but then it's a very dark few shots! Can you give any specific indication of who you think it might be?

Yes sure. Just one second, I'll get the DVD on.

Yes, when one by one, peoples heads pop up, I think he is the third man to get up.

Hmm, yeah. Possible. A bit hard to tell, as I've only seen him relatively recently, not in the mid 70s. If pushed though, I'd have to say that no, I don't think it is him.

Yes, it's debatable. You get another shot of him and you see a bit more of him. If it's not- it does look a bit like him.

Found a picture of Roy Clarke in the late eighties in a book. Managed to get a good close in picture of him on the DVD and come to this conclusion. This man looks very much the same to him around the eyes, but the nose is completely different. Unless Roy had a nose job, it can't be him. My theory now is that this 'extra' is a blood relative to Roy, probably his brother.

I don't think I see it in your list...

I recall Rosie being better than better than Growing Pains. Is that fair?
