Bleak Expectations - Series 5 Page 2

Yet ANOTHER disappointment today when I went into Waterstones expecting to buy (or at the very least ORDER), the CD of Series 5, Bleak Expectations (which was SUPPOSED to be out on Nov 15th) only to be told.......they could find no trace of it, had no idea when it would be released or when they would have it. Angry
At least, thanks to coming home & trawling through the confusing morass of BBC Comedy listings I found the first episode is due to be broadcast on Radio 4 at 18:30 on Tuesday 20th Nov (Tomorrow)!
Thank God for that (or even HURRUMBLE as Harry Biscuit would say!)
Maybe the CD will be released before I'm too old to HEAR it or too senile to remember where I PUT it but I'm losing hope! (After all, according to the ever-trustworthy Am*zon it was due for release back in April or May)!Angry

I'm afraid it looks like you've misunderstood something, Slick. The 15th was publication date for an expanded novelisation of Series 1. I can't find any record anywhere of a Series 5 CD listed for this month!

Speaking of which, the Series 5 CD is likely to be available in the spring. But do make sure you check here first - we list all of this information precisely to help you avoid such situations. :)

I know it said HERE that Nov 15th was the date for the Series 1 novelisation but I DEFINATELY saw, or heard, that Series 5 was due to be released on the 15th Nov. I am FAIRLY certain that it was actually in Waterstones the LAST time I went in to check if it was in (about a month or so ago).
The girl looked it up & that was what she told me (sorry but I don't know WHERE she looked it up).
Thanks for the response, looks like we have ANOTHER three or four months to wait! :(

In that case, almost certain she misunderstood your query and simply looked up the title, giving no attention to the actual product the computer was reeling back!

Nevertheless, we update our listings with all the latest information, often direct from the publishers, so do check. If in doubt, e-mail and we can make specific enquiries. :)

I will certainly keep checking! Oh well at least my step-daughter & I can listen to the episodes as they are broadcast & drive the rest of the family mad! :)

Thoroughly enjoying Series 5. As laugh-out-loud funny as always.

I don't know about spoofing Dickens but with all these CAPITALS it seems you are spoofing T. H. White...

"I don't know about spoofing Dickens but with all these CAPITALS it seems you are spoofing T. H. White..."

As I have NO idea what you are talking about I don't know whether to be offended or not!
Huh?
In my defence I would like to point out that I was using capitals to indicate EMPHASIS of a word as italics seem unavailable!

Anyway, I am in full agreement with Aaron, thoroughly enjoying Series 5!

O.K, I've just Googled "T.H.White" so I now know he was an author who went to public school & Cambridge so presumably it is a compliment to my writing style & I should't be offended?! Geek

I must admit my interest in "older" literature is limited mainly to Capt. W.E.Johns "Biggles" books & Arthur Ransomes "Swallows & Amazons" series!

The Cutty Pork!

Laughing out loud

Most famous for writing the novel of Sword in the Stone and Gulliver's Travels follow up Mistress Masham's Repose. He only wrote like that when characters were writing letters and so forth.

Well you come with an AUTHOR who writes like that...

Aaah, I see what you mean, consider me educated! I have seen the film of "The Sword in the Stone" and have even READ Gulliver's Travels (a long time ago!) but honestly the name T.H.White didn't register at all, how embarrassing! :$

Also, you have proved that italics ARE available but I can't see how so that'll have to remain my excuse!
:D

Another great episode, loved the French jokes and the cannibal sea Captain, 'I'm certainly not tenderising you.'This show just gets better and better.

Such a shame that it's supposed to the final series. :(
As soon as I have spare funds after Christmas I'm going to check out the written adaptation of Series 1! :)
