British Comedy Guide

Ready for the challenge

Hi all, tried to be the funny man since school and never changed, there's one thing holding me back though.......yes , you've guessed it.confidence. it's like a massive barrier in front of me that just lets the fear factor kick in. I'm 38 now so feel my time is running out to fulfill my dream of entertaining people, which worries me. However, I'm looking at team up with a partner/s to write and perform comedy on a regular basis, either stand up or sketch show. I feel working with people is the optimal situation for me to perform at my best, anyone with experience and mentoring to offer me would definitely be appealing as I have only ever made friends, family, workmates and customers laugh. I've grabbed my nuts by doing this, I just hope this is a start!. I have no writing or stage experience but I know within myself with the right people around me will make a damn good show. I live in north west England with transport. Please contact me, (it will make your day!) hook up, have the crack and see where it goes!

I was the classic cliche. Be funny and the bullies won't beat the crap out of me. Later I realised girls like boys who are funny. Well -funny and handsome DAMMIT!

I was the fat kid in school, your first line is very true, make em laugh and you don't get hurt. I ain't no Daniel Craig but also not Shane McGowan but somewhere in the middle and always done alright with the ladies.

All I'd advise Streety is get going with a bit of writing now, don't put it off, write some oneliners or short sketches and play around with this for a while. Hooking up with other writers may be be a good idea but further down the line when you have discovered your own style may be a better option. Stick around on here and get involved and you'll learn lots...I did, and some of it was even legal.

I was the fat kid at school.

But what was worse, was my school was in Ethiopia during Live Aid.

What was your favourite musical instrument whilst at school in Ethiopia Sootyj?.......the dinner bell.
