Maddy audition Page 3

I think that the heartache the McCann family do or do not feel is private to them. I am not interested in it. Their (true) story, like the moors murderers (true) story is however well entrenched in the public domain and as such it's available for dicussion and anything else that the law permits.

As for taste. I'd never even think of doing a comedy sketch about Maddy as it is so recent (not a dig at Joel btw) but I did one involving the two Moors Murderers and other real serial killers from the past all sharing a house together. It didn't get very far before I ran out of grisly plot!

Obviously, it would never get made and put on telly. I didn't write it to get made. It's like this sketch with Russell Brand and Maddy. It won't get on telly but so what? It's a funny sketch well written in my view. A bit of experimental writing that works for me! Good point though that the sketch could be re-modelled for someone else and become "acceptable in the noughties"... food for thought for the writer!

...and please some feedback on my other stuff before i become mr dodgy, the maker of dodgy jokes, in the land of dodginess

Controversial stuff always gets us going on here mate! Ask BSG Editor Mark - it's the bain of his life!! :P

Funnily enough, jokes about the perpetrators of child abuse / rape / murder / whatever are more palatable. There's been shitloads of funny stuff done about Gary Glitter, Harold Shipman, Fred West etc. But stuff about the victims is a different matter. It's just not right.

You could have a sketch about Myra Hindley, but not Lesley-Anne Downey.

Yes you're right. My sketch did in fact feature Myra Hindley but any mention of her/their victims was ficticious.

No I wasn't briefed.

So AJP has been debriefed. It's like when Superman loses his powers due to Kryptonite! :D

jsut saw in the sun, that al quaeda have used two women with learning difficulties as involuntary suicide bombers,

i guess my view is not, is this a subject for humor?

but if it isn't then al quaeda
really have won

n.b. with regards to the audition sketch, would it work if i took out the maddy line, and just made it auditioning, would probably still work

mocking holocaust iconography, to mock needlessly tasteless humor?

comedy is a funny old business

ESTABLISHING SHOT OF A THEATRE EXTERIOR, NIGHT

THERE'S A BANNER READING "SUFFER LITTLE CHILDREN" AND SUBTITLED "LESLEY-ANNE DOWNEY - A HUMOROUS LOOK AT HER FINAL MOMENTS".

WE SEE PUBLICITY POSTERS READING "THE FUNNY SIDE OF KIDDIE-KILLING", "TORTURE TITTERS", "THE GROSSEST OF GIGGLES" AND "LAUGHALONGALESLEY"

CUT TO:

THEATRE. INTERIOR. NIGHT.
WE SEE THE AUDIENCE WATCHING THE STAGE AS THE CURTAIN GOES UP.

THE STAGE IS BARE AND THE AUDIENCE LOOKS PUZZLED.

WE HEAR MECHANICAL CLANKING AS WE CUT TO CLOSE-UPS OF BOLTS BEING DRAWN AUTOMATICALLY ACROSS THE EXIT DOORS.

AS THE AUDIENCE LOOK MORE PUZZLED WE HEAR THE HISSING OF GAS.

THE AUDIENCE BEGIN TO PANIC AS, ONE BY ONE, THEY GRASP THEIR THROATS AND FALL TO THE FLOOR.

ENDS.

I don't know what to make of that. What is your point?

That anybody who laughs/makes jokes that you consider inappropriate should be killed?

Have you considered becoming a tyrant yourself?

You've proved a sketch about Lesley Ann Downey wouldn't be funny anyway! :)

Laughing out loud

That Laughalonglesley gag made me giggle though. Oops - gas chamber beckons!

the thing that chills me is that once you say one target isn't ok, then you say the ones that are doubly ok

for my work I supported people with mental health problems for a while, including people who spoke to voices, were obese due to medication etc.

they all had the piss thoroughly taken, it bugs me alot that the people who did that felt it was ok because they weren't racist or didn't make diana jokes

I feel for the Mcann's but as stated, in a different league to other child murderers. I feel for poor Maddy as much.
Basically.
Would you leave your wallet on a table in your room, filled with cash while in a foreign country.
Would you?

I wouldn't leave my wallet lying around in my own house, Charley.

I'd use travellers cheques.

Cool

I leave my empty wallet around all the time and then when someone picks it up I accuse them loudly of nicking the money that wasn't in it.

My wallet is always empty and I'm sick of it.

I earn enough but the basterd government takes too much of it - and wastes it! Angry

are we through the rabbit hole yet?
