Doctor Who... Page 902

There were no big story arcs in the latest series half.

Not that there's anything wrong with a well done story arc. Can be very satisfying.

No there weren't thank God, but there was still this pervading air of leftover arcs, the Pond's etc. I just hope with the new ones he breaks away from all that. I see Colin Baker is going into the Jungle.

How about taking all this Chelsea boot Star Trek bollocks into a separate thread. This is Doctor Who, you cocktwats.

Doctor Who has influenced a gazillion sci-fi shows and is now influenced by other sci-fi shows. Just merely comparing and contrasting similar efforts in a particular genre - same as if you were going on one of your trademark loony rants about Moffat's writing and compared Coupling to Friends.

Swear word.

There is a story-arc, we just don't know what it is. There are suggestions that Oswin has been involved in every story, There have been eggs in 3/4 stories, a POV in every story, and the suggestion that all the stories are in reverse - The Doctor knew the fate of Amy/Rory, so decided to go back in time to have more adventures.
Moffat is trying to be smart, but he's up his own arse!

That is one of the central problems with Who, it has such a vast and long past, that if you try to be a smart arse your bound to trip up somewhere. Why not just stick to some rattling good self contained yarns, get rid of the mystic bullshit and go back to basic good story telling.

True, but its the present that Moffat keeps complicating by his inept story telling.

because at its best Dr who has simply never been straight forward city of death or the war lords or the drs wife were on difent level to everything else

Yup I'm afraid he can't help himself, to in love with weaving complicated plots that in most cases lose all but the hardcore fan. Without the flashes and the bangs it would be dead in the water.

I was extremely surprised to learn that the average cost of a 25 minute episode of The Ambassadors of Death(1970) was 7,607.71 (£97,714.29, 2012 money), when a 45 minute episode today cost £800,000.

Something wrong there!

And I have to laugh when Moffat said that a two parter costs the same as two-one parters. Well, it does when you use different sets for each episode. If he had the ability to write a two parter using the same sets, it would be cheaper!

New Cybermen, for anyone interested. Slimmer, sleeker, a bit less like a chunky kids toy.

That seems better, not so clunky :)

They're good looking.

I hope they have guns or something seems more traditional.

And I hope they go back to being chavs in space

Gaiman has said he wants them to be silent and scary; so you turn around and they're just there. Hopefully this means no more stomping about in as loud a manner as possible. And hopefully no more 'DELETE'.

I think Gaiman is the master of modern horror, but in a subtley family friendly way.
I think if anyone can be truly horrific without alerting the censors.
Truly nightmarish even.
Then it's him.

I like the look of the new Cybermen. Hope they're not too silent - I always liked their mad, arrogant rants.
