I meant Charlie, who certainly seems to.

Oh, yes I think he does, but I can see where he is coming from

But sitcom is a much harder art, and I must admit apart from The Thick Of It and a few others, on the whole the world of sitcom is dull and predictable.

It's funny, because I love Me And Mrs Jones but find The Thick Of It somewhat dull and predictable.

It's probably an age difference thing, I grew up on standard comedy fare and maybe am a little jaded now. I liked The Thick Of It, but it never really lived up to its potential and still prefer Yes Minister. If a comedy doesn't even raise a wry smile with me, then I stop watching. Not that I'm saying old school is best look at the tragedy that is Harry and Paul.

I worry deeply about the sanity of anyone who doesn't prefer Yes Minister to The Thick Of It. ;)

Yes Minister

Watching that (series 1) at the moment and I like it.

I like this. A lot. It's funny and I want to watch more. That said, I would probably watch Robert Sheehan in anything(*), cos he's brilliant.

[(*) except soap opera -- I'm not mental]

The irony is that 'Me and Mrs Jones' is a traditional sitcom of the sort we might have had 40 years ago.

Explains why the "jokes" aren't funny!

Show me a decent modern comedy!!!!

It's impossible to show a person something if they choose not to see it.

This isn't a decent comedy!!

You're right, it's not a decent comedy. It's a brilliant comedy.

Loved tonight's episode, laughs almost from start to finish and some great use of the romantic tension.

Had a quick flick through on iPlayer just to see the gratuitous shots of the Marillion album cover (sadly, this is the best Marillion reference in a sitcom since 'The Young Ones') and it did seem a lot better than I'd given it credit for - not better enough to actually watch the episode properly though!

I can understand people being disappointed. The laughs are mild in sitcom terms and apart from Tom the characters are quite "stock". After 5 minutes of the first episode I was wasn't impressed and probably stuck with it because of the charm of the actors.

Now I'm really enjoying it. The writers said it's more rom-com than sitcom and I think they've got the balance just about right. The scripts are very cleverly written to give the actors space to shine.

Really surprised by the vitriol of Harry Venning's review (especially when he said he liked "Cuckoo"!).

Personally I wish they had more space to shine, outer space!

I don't think it's a good show...but it's a good opportunity to see that lovely Sarah Alexander. :)

I know many don't like it, but I much prefer Outnumbered and the lovely Claire Skinner :)
