Jackie Chan's use of common objects in acrobatic stunt fights. I don't know whether fighting movies were just so popular at the time or if I saw an unusual amount of them, but I remember my surprise and the comparison to other martial arts movies. It was simply so unexpected.
The horse's head in the Godfather? But that's probably more to do with the thrilling music.
