Can't believe it's over. :(

Really enjoyed Glenn's resignation speech.

He went Glental

"Out of my way, you f**king human mooncup."

Possibly one of the best and most disgusting insults from Malcolm.

Also loved "I will lamp you!... with a lamp!"

"I like mine weak and white... LIKE MY MEN."

And "No, you closeted regency homosexual."

I'm not really a fan of this comedy (mainly due to the swearing), but how can this show only get 753K viewers, when drivel like Me and Mrs Jones gets 2.72 million ???
At least TTOI is intelligent viewing, with plot and humour.

Intelligence does not equate to popularity and certainly not mass popularity. Quite the reverse in fact.

Scheduling plays a part in preloading an audience too.

Because there is a big difference in BBC One and BBC Two when it comes to ratings. The Thick of It does very well on iPlayer too, it probabaly adds at least another 300,00 views on that.

Also, not sure where the 753k figures comes from, I don't think any episode dropped under 850k.

But, it sadly shows who BBC "sit-coms" are aimed at.

But, it sadly shows who BBC "sit-coms" are aimed at.

The existence of both shows illsutrates that the BBC have programming that caters to both the general public, and niche-interest nerds. For whatever reasons you might not like the given programmes, but their existence is a healthy variation.

Saturday night is awful scheduling for any sitcom, let alone a 'cult' one. Plus this just wasn't as strong as the first three series.

The Thick of It, Peep Show, Stewart Lee....

They all get around 1 million viewers.

That's because there are about 1 million intelligent people in the UK.

Simple.

It is a convincing argument.
