There is nothing wrong with dealing with tragedy with humour, but you must include some humour. Shock value is a weak tool and will only work if it is set up correctly. Simply stating facts or conjecture is not humour, you need to find an angle that somehow illuminates what is a dark, and for most people, depressing subject.
