Red Dwarf X Page 25

Well after detesting last weeks ep I was surprised to find I enjoyed this one

Wasn't particularly funny

But it was enjoyable fun

Any other sad red dwarf geeks notice the piece of classical music during the making up the flat pack montage was the same piece used in a music montage in Krytens very first ever appearance?

Just me then

I enjoyed this episode, it didn't have too many excruciatingly long set ups for jokes and the characters felt like they used to feel. For example this has been the first episode of RDX where Kryten has been like his old self. Maybe my expectations have been sufficiently lowered to enjoy a lower standard of plot but it made me chuckle.

I too found it charming this week if not exactly side splittingly hilarious. Like Der Stott, I thought the organ gag was aces. The Church of Judas explaination for Rimmer's middle name was good canonical stuff and the 10 lemons line was predictable but still made me chuckle.

Massive plot hole alert: Jesus left his note in ancient whatever, yet the book he was reading was in English.

How come Lister suddenly mentioned looking for Kochanski? Has this been alluded to before? Did I miss it?

Yes, it's been mentioned. Her name has come up every up so far, too. Which I suppose must be leading to her turning up.

I think they had to chuck this in to explain why they have to stay on Red Dwarf instead of using the Rejuvey Shower to just go back in time and enjoy life.

It was actually set up in that mini-series from a few years back, too.

While I enjoyed it (again), it felt like a lot of the gags were placeholders that they never got around to going back to and improving.

That Jesus fella

What accent was that supposed to be?

Sounded like he was from bloody Grimsby

Sunderland, apparently.

I liked this one. I saw it recorded and thought it very funny at the time, though the chase scene took about three hours by itself. Came across very well and felt more like old Dwarf, especially with the 'bantering' between the four of them at the table.

Dan

I thought that the jokes were really weak unfortunately. The middle of the episode moved along solidly enough but the series has been far too predictable and clumsy imo.

Enjoyed this one more than the first two. I even smiled when they had to walk 4000 miles to get the lemons and then thought they had to walk all the way back to get the copper. But it still wasn't British comedy's finest hour imo.

I agree that the jokes weren't as strong as they could have been but I really enjoyed the premise

Speaking of time machines...Danny John-Jules looks like he could go back to 1988 and still get the role of Cat. This guy hasn't aged a bit.

Except he's really bald and wears a big wig for the role. Still looking incredibly good though! I think I prefer him sans hair. But then I would say that, being a slapster myself. By the way, who is this prick interviewing him?
