I wanted to see the headline 'David Beckham Capped' but for all the wrong reasons
David Beckham left out of England squad Page 2
Quote: Eat_My_Shirts @ January 31, 2008, 11:26 PMThey should just give him his 100th Cap, and then let him f**k off back to LA. It's just a pointless friendly game against a pointless and friendly country, Switzerland.
Wrong! Capello has done well. 10/10.
It's NOT a friendly game - we need to win. Forget the idea of "friendly" games - that's total bollocks.
Also, there is no place in the squad for sentimental bullshit reasons.
11/10 for Capello!
Need to win?! Get a life.

I've got a life.
If we are going to win the World Cup we need to think like winners, that means every game.
If you're not interested, fine.
I am.

You know what. David is an ex pretty boy that was quite a good player. Notice the WAS!!!!!!
I look at the likes of Rooney. Ugly f**ker, but good with the ball. He will never make it like DB has.
WHY????
Cause he aint a pretty.
F**k pretty. Give me a bit of old granny f**ker anyday. Wooooo.
Loves yer Roo Roo. x
A lot of people seem to think that now Beckham is approaching 33, he won't be as good as he was a few years ago. The truth is, he's still great, and, unlike a lot of his younger England teammates, he still performs well for his country. I think he'll be back in the squad, once he gets fit - unless Capello has got something against him playing in the weak American league.

a) Aren't we out of the World Cup?
b) I thought that you didn't believe in individual countries or defining groups by nationality, patriotism, all that malarkey?

After you wrote "Aren't we out of the World Cup?" all the rest of your post read as "blah blah RARARA BOLLocks rar blah moooooooo".
He'll get his 100th cap in a hastily arranged England v Scotland game at Wembley that both teams will play for failing to qualify for EURO2008.
Patriotic fervor at its height will make for a far more exciting spectacle than say Austria v Poland which takes place in the European championships the same month.
I don't know much about football, but didn't something similar happen to Gary Linekar towards the end of his career? He was in line to get a record number of England caps but the then manager (Graham Taylor?) refused to put him on? As a result, Gary's spent the last fifteen years punishing us with Walkers crisp adverts.

nearly right.
He scored 48 England goals and one more would've put him level with all-time top scorer Bobby Charlton.
He had a penalty against Brazil just before EURO92 but he missed it so he had his chance. Taylor substituted him in a game that England need to win against Sweden in the championships but as they lost he effectively ended his international career.
I prefer Jug Ears to Golden Balls.
As soon as someone starts talking about football, there must at least five guys (not talking about chicks) who definitely should point out they don't like football.
So you don't. You don't have to discuss it then. Jeez.
(PS. I only watch games with our national team and World/European championships. And ice hockey is much, much more interesting anyway )

Maybe Beckham should try ice hockey then, seeing as how he's been frozen out of the England squad.
