Does the start of 'anal' sound the same as 'Ian' in a Northern Irish accent?

It may be an aural pun for persons of a northern disposition:
The lines: "Ian who?" "Anal sex" may sound like "Eh, I knew anal sex" or even "here you are now, anal sex" when rendered in Newcastle-style patois.

An..al (2 syallables but the first is pronounced like 'Ian'.
In fact, the word 'anal' could be said to have a silent 'i' at the start even though it hasn't. Hope that clears it up for you.

I couldn't 'hear' that either until you just explained it, so I think it is the accent. I kept reading it as Ian Anal Sex which made no sense 
Even in my best Reverend Ian Paisley imitating accent, I cannot figure out just how on Earth you can pronounce 'anal' to sound like 'Ian' (-al). I think a YouTube example is called for.
