I've just seen... Page 310

When it comes to movies you're really out of step with the common consensus, aren't you, Kevin.

I was just thinking the same thing myself. I'm finding it really difficult to understand why Looper's getting the praise it has.

I mean, it's not a shit film by any stretch, but it really doesn't deserve to be tagged with words like "smart". It's just a very, very average-intelligence movie.

The way it handled time travel was pretty much identical to Time Cop, for example. Few time travel movies have done it stupider. Bill & Ted was smarter. My heart sank the moment the words started appearing on the dude's arm.

I was willing to put that aside and just go with it, hoping they'd do something interesting with the concept, but they didn't.

The second half of the film was just a mash-up of The Terminator (I mean, the exact same premise as The Terminator) and any number of bullshit kid-with-magic-powers movies.

Middle Men. Okay truish story about some men who got rich off the internet porn boom. Would have been better if it didn't have Owen Wilson in the lead.

I saw Looper today and enjoyed it in an 8/10 way. Not sure I'd revisit it again and the hype is perhaps not justified, but decent enough.

Probaby give it that too. If you think about any of the time travel stuff then of course it would start to fall apart, but I enjoyed it. I assumed it would be Willis and his past self joining up to shoot guns at people, so was surprised and happy that it went in another direction.

Cursed. Fun but no Ginger Snaps.

'Snowwhite & the Huntsman'. Loved it but I'm a sucker for fairytales.

Fast and Furious 5. Great lame-brained stuff. It's been said before but it is essentially Heat with Vin Diesel and The Rock in the DeNiro and Pacino roles. Can't wait for Fast 6.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc Sec. Like Indiana Jones but with a hot French strumpet in the lead instead of Harrison Ford. Great fun.

Here's a version of Looper I could get behind...

Looper: I agree with Kevin about the mish-mash element (I spotted a bit of Back To The Future in there too), but it was an enjoyable enough flick.

An interesting interview with the director here, addressing the perceived plot-holes. Spoilers galore, well duh.

A Scanner Darkly. It's not a bad Philip K. Dick adaptation, although I could never get used to the weird rotoscoping animation, or whatever it's called. Why not just make a normal live-action film.

Ill Manors.

I liked it, but every time the narrator started rapping what we were looking at I couldn't help be reminded of R Kelly's Trapped In The Closet.

Spoiled an otherwise pretty impressive Brit-flick.

Storage 24. So so sci-fi/horror with Noel Clark.

Noel Clark.
