Things that piss you off Page 1,104

In a bit of a quandry. I have a female friend on Facebook who is a 'right on' single mother who seems to raising her young son as a 'fruit'. Won't cut his hair, encouraged him to build a pink teddy bear at one of those build your own bear parties, is teaching him to respect women, etc.

It's pissing me off that instead of raising a son, she seems to be taking part in some sort of mixed up hippy liberal gender experiment. Problem is, you can't say anything, because it's her property baby and if you dare criticise anyone's ability to raise a child, you get murderised on the spot.

Of course, if the situation were reveresed and it was a man raising a small girl and he refused to buy her pink dresses, dolls, make up, etc. because it was sexist, chicks would kick down his door and take the toddler into care.

Hence, my being pissed off.

RC, are you one of those dudes who puts on superhero costumes and chains themselves to public buildings?

This is all just a joke, right?

If you try to 'engineer' your children it always blows up in your face.
Kids are smarter than that.
And 'gender-neutral' toys are about as interesting as fat-free food, so it won't last long.

I think RC should go ahead and lay down the man-law to this woman. Let us know how it goes!

.../ teaching him to respect women, etc.

:O Outrageous!
Apart from the colour of the teddy, nothing you mentioned sounds too bad. Presumably there's a lot of other stuff you could mention, but you needn't worry, he's bound to rebel against it all and end up as a misogynist.

Oh, dear! Have a bar of chocolate - that should cure it.

Nah, I don't think a common sense lecture from me would go down to well, there's a reason she's a single mum. In fact, I'm surprised anyone got her up the duff in the first place, must be some right desperados out there.

Personally, I think it's a form of child abuse and as others have said, it will probably backfire massively and instead of being raised as competent member of society, his first inclination will be to join a gang that exaggerates the worst aspects of the male gender.

As an only child, with no positive male role models and an insane hippy mother, I confidently predict he will grow up to become a mass murderer...or one of those crying fruits on X Factor.

It might be nice to fight the stereotype and give pink to a boy, but while every other boy thinks pink is for girls, he's just going to be marked out for a childhood of being bullied.

Kids tend to either rebel or not rebel against their parents. Meh the idea that parents can control their kids is hokum.

A friends a total patchouli scented dope smoking hippy. One of her kids is in the Israeli airforce as a drone controller. And he's killed more Arabs than a randy goat with AIDS. The other is petitioning to be a front line combat soldier, despite being a girly with tits and everything.

I think I maybe becoming a racist.

Eek!

I'd advise you to mind your own beeswax.

I really, really hate people who drink very milky coffees. What is the point? Why not just have a mug of hot milk instead?

I have a bright pink 'pringle' jumper and I love it.

Not a fruit though - a golfer.
