How to get gigs / booked?

I'm starting in stand up and have done a few gigs so far. Any ideas for getting shows in the North West of England?

Find out what venues have gigs in your area, go along, speak to the promoter and see how you can get a spot, if you can't go along find an email, or even better, a phone number call the promoter and ask if you can get a 5 minute open spot.

Repeat ad nauseum and don't expect to get many gigs until you get your face known on the circuit.

Getting gigs is all about networking, going along to gigs and talking to people is the best way but is time consuming and requires financial investment.

Look up the Frog and Bucket (especially their "Beat the Frog" nights) and Funhouse Comedy (who also run "friendly" gong shows) or if you're feeling brave put yourself down for the Manchester Comedy Store's Gong Show.

There's no real secret to getting gigs if just all about contacting promoters, being persistent without being a pain in the butt and getting better, the more you gig the more gigs you will get. Good luck.

Moved to performance discussion.

Thank you for that, good advice..
