Hello can someone point me in the right direction of a good reliable script editor. I have searched the net and frankly my head is now pecked!

Surely a script editor is only hired (whether it be in-house BBC or a prodco) when your script is actually being made.
Right now, just concentrate on getting your "calling card" script as good as you can make it.
I was thinking along the lines of, maybe getting some professional eyes on my script before I bust the move towards an agent. I don't want to scupper any chance with an agent if my script is floored for what ever reason.
The same with the agent thing. I have looked around the net and my head is double pecked,and I think this is something I need help with.

How many people have read it so far?
It's worth getting a few people to look at it before you shell out on a professional reader.
That way the really silly stuff like spelling (it's ''flawed' not 'floored', by the way 
) and "is it funny" can be dealt with early on - meaning the script reader can spend more of his time (and your money) on the trickier stuff like structure etc.
yeah cheers for that laz a few of my mates and my wife have read it,they like it found it original,funny etc.
I don't want this to sound terrible but I feel I am surrounded by yes men at times,and I feel a realistic overview of my script is necessary,is it sellable etc.
and to point out any flaws.

Put the first few pages or so up in Critique.
is it worth getting a reader then? if it is flawed and it needs correcting I am quick to the pen, and I can take criticism and contradiction.
i have been working on this for the best part of 18 months and I am at the point of, now what?

There are some professional eyes here Nigel as well as others. People may read a few pages, I wouldn't put a whole screenplay up. WHat format is it for?

Apparently some people get a "script doctor" to look things over and write a report / make suggestions prior to submission.

Thanks for the recommendation Marc, and that's good advice. Although I do script reports, there have been occasions when it would have felt like ripping someone off to take money for notes when the script hasn't been ready for them. So I send those scripts back, with some brief advice based on the first few pages. There's no point doing a detailed analysis when fundamentals aren't working. The three biggest problems tend to be lack of a structured story, thin characterisation, and leaden dialogue. So getting some feedback from the wise members of BCG before paying me or anyone else for notes should help get a script to a stage where notes would be useful.
