Hey AP, don't get me wrong, this question does not aim at provocation but I'd like to know which age category you are...some of your ideas & ideals sound that of a relatively young man. And some of the other members here are relatively old farts that might be a bit amused at such ideals...

The Vices of Old men? This seems strangely appropriate

Yup. But many of the old(er) men had similiar ideals many moons ago. But falling flat on the face with these ideals several times makes you a bit cautious...and cynical.
Idealism slowly changes to pragmatism as the years roll-by.
I always wondered why people declare themselves as left/right/liberal etc. Surely, in most cases, people swing in different directions of the political compass, depending on the issue?
Adding it all up, you may end up with more 'lefts' than 'rights', but when people classify themselves, everything seems to get all tribal.
America's tedious liberal/conservative polarisation all over the internet shows members of one 'group' always point-scoring on the other 'group' - "libtards suck!" etc.

Exactly.
I was recently scanning through some posts I made on an American Football forum around 6 years ago (I was 24 a the time, and am 30 now).
The posts were fairly political - crime/punishment, welfare state, wars etc. - but the 30-year-old me almost felt a bit embarrassed by them. My heart was in the right place, but they appeared immature.
I don't really know if I have grown-up for the better, or maybe the 24-year-old me was actually 'in the right', and the world has just battered the 30-year-old me into shutting-up and conforming.
I respect people like Bill Hicks who stuck to their guns, but you have to make sacrifices (financially, socially etc.) to do so.
I wouldn't disagree with that. I'm broadly left of Centre.
But Comedy is like Marmite you either get it or you don't. If your making something then at least make something you like the taste of..
Some people are going to get it and others are not. Its not a popularity competition, its Art, in its broadest sense.
I see Critique as a place to through out ideas. Thats what having fun is about..what better reason

Not in the slightest.
It was the 'right wing illness' bit I was having trouble with.

I agree to a certain extent. But after that point it becomes an excuse for laziness. So you can deliberately produce cheap shit and call it comedy, arts or whatever...and say the ones that call it shit just don't get it because it goes over their head.

"In its maladaptive form, perfectionism drives individuals to attempt to achieve an unobtainable ideal, and their failure to meet their expectations causes psychological distress".
I think I was suggesting that right wing 'dictators' can experience Perfectionism as a psychological disorder, of course you might argue that so do leftwing dictators.. Depends how you see Starlin left or Right... Perhaps it would be more accurate to say' Extremism'.

I thought of dubbing this myself but to be honest I don't think there's anything I could do to make the original funnier, and I think you've hit the same problem.
But it could be vastly improved by cutting it down to a minute or so. At the moment it's way too long and the gags aren't strong enough to carry it. It's also very disjointed, from what I read of your comments you tend to take a free spirit, anything goes approach to comedy, but unfortunately you still have to have some semblance of order and structure or your audience quickly loses interest. About 30 seconds in on this one. Even in mash-ups you have to tell a story, especially ones that go on for this long. It's an old cliche but brevity really is the soul of wit.
For what it's worth I sniggered at the scatter cushions gag.

Fair Comment, Strangely enough the gag I would have cut was the Scatter cushion's, go figure?
I think we were aware that this was a sensitive subject that would cause some reaction. Some political, as well as Comedy thoughts were taken into consideration. And yes the odd 'knob' gag (Lazy?)
But yeah its very much a MASH IT and see philosophy..
I guess the gag that tickled me was the actors thinking they'd been booked for a porn film who got shafted by a religious nut. But as I said Marmite.
What I love about Mash-up as a Medium is its Seredipity nature, stuff just happening at random, going with the flow of an edit rather than figuring out 'Character curves'..
I'm quite happy to put the raw footage up online if anyone thinks they can do better in 24hrs.. What you say GB?
AP Scene
PS just told we hit 101 hits so our target aim hit..under time, rather pleased with that.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LzOU6ETxI8 ..Marmite

It's an impossible challenge and I think you know that.

Ok a little tongue in cheek, but the problem I faced. Which more than one person has said is a difficult challenge..
But a fun comedy exercise to anyone wishing to take the challenge.. I will post the footage if anyone dare/brave..

PS with improved sound Eq
