Things that piss you off Page 1,094
Quote: keewik @ September 13 2012, 4:57 PM BSTI should have been more explicit - it's the newscasters/presenters who drive me nuts with these things. None of us speak beautifully in real life but these folk are being paid to deliver things clearly to the nation so I expect them to make an effort with reasonable speech.
In a similar vein, there was a teenager on a news programme the other night complaining about the grade debacle in GCSEs. Referring to his teachers, he said 'They was ... blah, blah" And he wondered why he failed English!
Heh...I didn't take offence. I'm used to me now!! I do know what you mean, though. The thing is...these days, there isn't that specific pronunciation requirement where newsreaders and presenters are concerned anymore. To be honest...they all sound really posh to me...everyone does. :-/
Actually...I was just in the kitchen, singing Julie Andrews style to my 12 year old daughter. She looked sort of worried for a while...and said...that's like opera. Bless.

I would make the punishment fit the crime: a long course of powerful laxatives - then see how they feel when they can never find a public loo that hasn't been closed down because of vandalism.
I hate loose compasses, where your circumrefence just gets bigger and bigger, and you end up with just a big bastarding spiral.
Being on the same train carriage as the World's Noisiest Hen Night!
They were so loud, they missed their stop and ended up adding 5 hours to their journey, Glasgow to London, then back to Blackpool. HA HA!

You poor woman, noisy hen night bods are a nightmare. But it does bring me to my own more widespread problem - the train driver making an announcement and people deliberately raising their voices to talk over the driver.
He / she is trying to tell you that the train / tube is only going so far or is delayed and the dumb scum make their conversations louder. Thanks rude people, your stupid chat about nothing has stopped me from hearing vital information.
Bet they were Italian - noisiest bastards in the world.
Women that wear those heels made out of Kryptonite that go ' clack clack clack clack ' on any hard surface.
Noisy selfish bastards !
What if we all wore them ?
The world would be unbearably noisy . . .
But think how glamorous you'd look in the heels ....
I have a very mysterious pair of boots that don't have any heel on them but still make that clicky clacky noise. It's very perplexing.
Zooo you're a robot, did nobody tell you?

I'm a 6'2" hunk that doesn't need heels !

So is it my knees doing the clicky clack?
"Next week on..." As much as anything it is the lack of confidence it shows in the product - okay, fair enough this week was crap, but please keep watching, oh go on, next week is going to be so much better, look here's all the good bits...
