Hope you enjoy

Steve (Acorn DVD)

I as good as never pre-order DVDs, but I'm genuinely tempted by this.

(For anyone wondering, only 5 series were produced. Series 2, 4 and 5 are entirely missing, whilst Series 1 & 3 are 100% complete, and are included in this set. A total of 17 episodes.)

For anyone who's interested we are now shipping copies of Marriage Lines to customers. This won't be available elsewhere until Feb 2013. http://bit.ly/marriage-lines

Has anyone happened to watch this? After loving Ever Decreasing Circles I'm tempted to buy and watch this now. Anyone recommend it?

It's a very different beast to Ever Decreasing Circles! The comedy is far more gentle, very reflective of the age in which it was produced. Certainly should be good for a few laughs though, and both leads are predictably wonderful.

Cheers Aaron. I think I'll give it a crack. Love both leads, esp Mr Briers. How does it compare with And Mother Makes which the I think was written by the same man? What is the DVD quality like? And in the post from way back when you said only 3 series were ever produced but wiki says 5. Who do I trust!?

Errr, some errors in that post. Now corrected. Not sure where the 3 came from - possibly a typo.

Anyway.

DVD quality is as you'd expect from a 50 year old series.

Richard Waring did indeed write the ...And Mother Makes duo, as well as many others. It's similarly gentle, domestic fare.

I'm one of the few who actually remember it at the time although I was very young so have no real memory of how good it was.
