I'm quite partial to 'flange'....
Oh...remember 'scunge'. It was the universal name for all the products that Rod Hull and Emu sold on their spoof adverts for stuff. For instance, they would show a lovely car being shone with scunge wax and then show it as a complete wreck. That type of thing. Like an anti-product. Hmmm. Yes...scunge.
I use it a lot...that word...not scunge...to explain any yukky substance.

I had a boss who being obliged to take a desk in the open plan built a little fort of filing cabinets around his desk.
