Capital punishment - yes or no ? Page 11

Of course it's silly: it's downright preposterous - first, there has to be the ritual wooing with the glass of valpolicella down the pub, followed by the £9.99 special down Pizza Hut.. and then and only then, the egg and sperm might get it on in the back of his Reliant Robin.

Exchange Pizza Express for Pizza Hut and Night Bus for Reliant Robin and you have a spookily stalker-ish insight into my romantic rendez-vous's.

There are different forms of Morning After Pill, most in the West work by stopping ovulation, so the sperm and egg never meet and conception is avoided. There are however, abortion pills, that actively destroy fertilised eggs, but they are only available as emergency contraception in Russia and China.

Wrong wrong wrong

The contraceptive pill is what stops ovulation.
The morning after pill prevents fertilisation, or terminates a pregnancy in its very early stages (ie. within a day or two). These are available at the chemist. http://www.boots.com/en/Men/Condoms-sexual-health/Emergency-contraception/

Wrong wrong wrong

I'm only going by the Wikipedia page, so I could well be wrong, but it looks pretty convincing to me -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_contraception

You clearly haven't read that

You clearly haven't read that

'The primary mechanism of action of combined estrogen-progestogen emergency contraceptive pills is to prevent fertilization by inhibition of ovulation'

I clearly have.

My apologies.

So Breivik could be out of jail and back in society in 2033, sharing the same bars and restaurants as the parents of those he cold bloodedly slaughtered. All you automatic Noers happy with that?

As has already been said, he won't be getting out.

So why not just put him in a coffin to make sure he won't be getting out? Seems like a nice finality to me, all over with, put it out of pulic consciousness, out of the constant reach of the media and moreover out of the sound and vision of the poor families who have to suffer the rest of their lives of knowing this man still breathes and has certain rights when their children don't.

I have a feeling a lot of people in Norway will start regretting their extreme liberal views about capital punishment in the coming years, if not their liberal views about multiculturalism. What Breivik has done is set off a time bomb in the soul of Norway itself.

Yep, while he's still alive, like Charles Manson or Ian Brady, his crimes will never be forgotten. Killing him would have also produced a martyr for the various right wing groups out there and only fuelled their cause further.

You have murdered people, murdering is wrong, so wrong, that we are going to murder you, just to prove how wrong murder is. Seems like a flawed argument.

Wronggg! In camp Radio 4 type voice. Execution is not murder, it is justifiably ending the life of a murderer who gave no regard for the life of their victims.

Evidence shows that there is more media rumpus over past murders when the murderers are still alive. All this is upsetting to the victims' families who simply want to try and forget it.

Deliberate killing someone is murder. You might give it a different name, but it is still murder. In this case, state sponsored murder.

It's very easy to confuse revenge for justice and to let emotions run wild, much like the torch weilding mobs of unwashed peasants in the Frankenstein movies, which is probably why the death penalty has been abolished in a lot of countries.

I'm not really for executions. Maybe a good whipping would be of use for minor crimes like shoplifting etc. I don't think whipping a murderer would really solve anything though.

What about if it was a really sexy murderess? I wouldn't mind mildly spanking Foxy Knoxy. Who is of course innocent of murder. Whistling nnocently

What's an extreme liberal view on capital punishment? One step up from those countries that only kill people a little bit?

And I'm sure Breivik would be delighted to read your prediction regarding multiculturalism..
