So Edinburgh Page 5

I managed to pack in a couple of shows yesterday, it was a glorious day in the capital.

I saw David bussells visual aids and got a lion bar. It was a great show, and a large receptive audience. I got a bit excited when I saw Demetri Martin laughing his head off next to me, turns out it was a lookalike.

Then the wonderful Nathan Cassidy gave me a pound for watching his brilliant show. Definitely recommended he had the audience in the palm of his hand.

Really enjoyed the Edinburgh review sketch show at banshee labyrinth. Some great performances and top sketches. They were very enthusiastic.

The Creative Martyrs were my favourite, surprising as it satire, surrealism, ukulele playing singing and dancing which I would normally hate, but this show is compelling, very dark too.

To be honest there were only 2 acts I didn't enjoy, one was a puppet act (ive never enjoyed puppet acts to be fair) the other was an older lady who played popular songs and then fast forwarded then, neither act seemed that they'd put much thought or effort into their act.

Was the puppet act an Aussie one?

I'm not sure, they didn't speak, just mimed along with some songs. The puppet was an old gentleman. It was pretty poor.

Not the one I was thinking of then. It is a younger guy and a purple puppet, who actually sing.

I am guessing that you are thinking of Sammy J & Randy?

I saw them perform at Spanktacular! and I thought they were very funny.

That's them. Intend on going to see them in a few months when they come to my city. Trying to get someone to go with me but comedy songs and puppets don't seem to be everybodys thing, which is fine I will go have a laugh by myself.

Also really hoping to go and see Bill Bailey next month.

OHH getting excited.

Thanks, Angie, it was lovely seeing you in the crowd, front row centre. Didn't hurt that it was a nice full room and that we went down pretty well that day. Glad you enjoyed most of the rest of what you saw and that I didn't recommend anything you disliked - turns out not everyone is the Doctor Brown fan I am!

Funniest Joke 2012 Announced. Told? No, that doesn't really work.

Just been up for a few days, saw a bunch of great shows, lucky to not even see a slightly poor one this year; people like Cariad Lloyd, Hannibel Buress, Nick Helm and Tony Law all delivering quality funny.

Best for me were:

An almost two hour late night stand up set from Daniel Kitson. Never seen him live before, and boy, people aren't wrong, amazing.

Tim Key, probably my favourite, he's one of the very best out there. peole who dismiss him as just reading rubbish poems don't get it,

I also kept seeing John Bishop in the audience for shows I was at. I think he was stalking me.
