Garden State. It manages to combine genuine comic inventiveness with nauseating twenty-something me-me-me-ery. Although I still quite like Zach Braff.

Yeah it was a bit meh
Thank heavens for the Portman.
And I don't mean a man with Port, although if there is one of those around I will have a Port please.

Just seen not one but two trailers for low budget shitty comedies featuring weddings. We get it, Bridesmaids did big business last year and chicks will watch anything with the word 'wedding' in it, but why release two similarly themed movies at the same time?

At least the studios stagger the superhero movies for us blokes, so our tiny brains don't get confused.

I think actually/weirdly the Rufus Hound wedding film might kind of be directed at blokes.

Then it will fail miserably unless the film is called 'I Married Twin Sister Gymnasts' and the entire movie is a non-stop incestuous lesbian romp and then some Transformers show up and blow up pirates.

Racist.

What a load of garbage. Convoluted claptrap. I was willing to buy into the conceit of Shakespeare not writing his plays, but turning the eminently shrewd and witty Elizabeth I into a young petulant slut and then an old vain and senile moron is something I cannot forgive. ugh.

Why did you see a film that looked that bad?

I mean that like dating Mike Tyson and complaining he wasn't a gentleman.

I was drawn in by the all-star cast, and I thought as Mark Rylance was in it that it might at least be interesting. Oh God! It was so awful! Queen Elizabeth gave someone a blowjob!

It looked like someone wanted to cross the Bourne Identity with Shakespeare in Love.

If you aren't going to watch it and don't mind spoilers, this will give you an amusing historian's take on the film: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/nov/03/anonymous-shakespeare-reel-history

I really enjoyed Bill Brysons book on Shakespeare

I like Portman, although I didn't think she was great in it. A bit self-consciously kooky, then really weak at the end. Which was probably the writing's fault, not hers.
