Lee needs warm cream soup rubbing into his muscles to relax baby!...
What are you eating? Page 582
I just spent an hour making a soup from scratch, only to find I don't like it.
Curse you, world.
Aww what kind Zooo? I like soup me.
Sweet potato and chorizo.
That probably sounds gross to some people anyway, but I love all the ingredients so I thought it would be delicious!
Oh well, shall be trying to make a Chinese chicken soup next time. Maybe that'll be nice.

With noodles? I dreamt of that last night.
Yup!

Home made panna Cotta with coffee syrup. The syrup isn't that great but at least I managed not to burn it this time.
Sicilian chocolate. Very grainy.
Mini Cheddars & Hummus

Where can you buy Chinese chickens? Apart from China that is.
It was a lot of effort to go to...
Hope your soup is rubbery.
Money is in short supply at the moment so I thought I'd set myself a challenge to create a decent meal for work for under 50p.
Off I went to Tesco and bought the following:
Pitta breads (6) - 20p
Garlic sausage (12 slices) - 55p
Cream cheese - 50p
Coleslaw - 20p
Fromage frais (6) - 42p
Custard creams (32) - 31p
-------------
TOTAL - £2.18
The idea is to make these ingredients last until the end of the week so that effectively works out at three meals at 76p per day but I can always take any leftovers home and have them at the weekend.
Anyway, my lunch today consisted of two toasted pittas cut in half with garlic sausage and coleslaw in two of the pockets and cream cheese and garlic sausage on the others. For 'afters' I had a strawberry fromage frais and four custard creams washed down with some free filter coffee from the office.
If you break down the costs into portions today's meal worked out at just 45p. With a bit more time I would've looked into making it a bit healthier and chucked in some fruit or salad but overall I didn't think this was too bad.
Would anyone else like to have a bash at a menu?
Two boiled eggs from our chickens = 0p
(Actually, by the time you factor in the chicken feed, state-of-the-art chicken ark, vets bills, cost of stupid bloody designer chickens etc etc it works out at about £14.50 an egg)
Tastes fabulous though.
You're right, though, the key to eating cheap is buying smart and knowing how to put ingredients together.
The more you go back to the basic ingredient and the more you do the preperation yourself, the cheaper (and better) the food.
