Saw two little clips and thought the same, this is not AP, this is Coogan. It was predictable and it's a bit old hat now. This chipping away at an old sitcom idea or character is tedious now, imo. If he wants to bring him back then put him back into a proper primetime TV sitcom, preferably where he was, at the BBC, where people expect to find him.
I can't believe the BBC would turn down another AP series if it was good, but what Coogan is doing here is not good but piddling rehashes of satiric sketches that Peter Cook and others did far better far long ago. Series 2 ten years ago showed how little good new comedy there was left in AP and this tired drivelling stuff is confirming it. Probably why BBC won't do another. And what the hell is the Martin Bryce reference all about??
Coogan, forget Partridge, it's making you look naff yourself, get some new stuff created or bring back Saxondale if you have to keep doing old characters. I would like to see The Trip series 2 finally appear as well, where is it?
